Use **My Development → Settings** to decide how goals work in your organization, customize how the goals area looks, and give Juno the context it needs to suggest better goals.

<Note>
  The **Settings** tab isn't shown on small screens. Use a laptop or desktop browser.
</Note>

## The Settings tabs

Select **Settings** in My Development. The **Flags** tab opens first.

| Tab | What you control |
| - | - |
| **Flags** | Notifications, learning partners, kick-off meetings, and budget requests for goals |
| **Appearance** | The goals background image and an information tooltip |
| **AI Categories** | The category tabs people see when Juno suggests goals and action items |
| **Company Priorities** | The priorities, skills, and tools that guide Juno's goal suggestions |
| **Career Paths** | How position cards and the competency rating scale appear. Shown only when Career Growth is turned on for your organization |

Switches on **Flags** and every change on **AI Categories** save as soon as you make them. **Company Priorities**, the tooltip on **Appearance**, and the competency scale on **Career Paths** have a **Save** button.

## Flags

The **Flags** tab, titled **Take Control of Goal Behavior**, has five switches.

| Setting | What it does | Default |
| - | - | - |
| **Manager Goal Notifications** | Automatically notifies managers when their team members launch and complete goals | Off |
| **Learning partner setting** | Adds a learning partner step when people launch a goal. It also lets people invite an expert on their goals and shows the **Goals I Support** view in My Development | Off |
| **Meeting scheduling setting** | Suggests scheduling a kick-off meeting when a learning partner is added. It's an optional recommendation. Available only when the learning partner setting is on | Off |
| **Goal Budget Requests** | Shows the budget request for learning resources step when people launch a goal | On |
| **Default Learning Partners Opt-in** | Opts people in to be available as learning partners, based on their skills. People can change this in their profile. Shown only when the learning partner setting is on | On |

<Note>
  If you turn off the learning partner setting, the meeting scheduling setting turns off too.
</Note>

The budget request step appears only when the goal has learning content to request and the person can submit requests.

## Appearance

The **Appearance** tab customizes the look and feel of the goals section.

| Setting | What it does |
| - | - |
| **Background Image** | Select the image to change the picture shown in the goals section on the homepage and on the empty goals screen. You can upload your own or pick one from Unsplash. The change saves as soon as you pick an image |
| **Customize Information Tooltip** | Adds an info icon next to the **Create a Goal** button. People hover over it to read your text. Leave the field empty to hide the icon |

Select **Save** after you edit the tooltip text.

## AI Categories

When people create a goal, Juno suggests goals in category tabs. On the goal page, Juno also suggests action items in tabs. The **AI Categories** tab lets you choose which tabs appear, add your own, and set the order.

There are two groups. Select a group to expand it.

| Group | Where people see these tabs | Default categories |
| - | - | - |
| **Goal Creation Categories** | When creating new goals | For You, Business Impact, Personal Goals, People Management, Generative AI, Strategic, Soft Skills, Trending, Wellness & Balance |
| **Suggested Action Items Categories** | In the suggested action items section of goals | Demonstrate Development, Step by Step, Business Impact, Achieve Your KPIs |

For each category you can:

* **Reorder it.** Drag it to a new position. The first enabled category is the tab that opens first.
* **Hide or show it.** Use the switch.
* **Delete it.** Only categories you added can be deleted. Default categories can only be hidden.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open a group">
    Select **Goal Creation Categories** or **Suggested Action Items Categories**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Fill in Add New Category">
    Enter a **Category Label**, which is what people see. Then enter a **Category Value**, which Juno uses to write suggestions. Use a descriptive name, such as "Customer success goals".
  </Step>

  <Step title="Select Add Category">
    Juno saves the new category right away.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Warning>
  Deleting a category you added takes effect immediately. **Reset to Default** removes every category you added and restores the default order and visibility. Juno asks you to confirm before it resets.
</Warning>

## Company Priorities

The **Company Priorities** tab tells Juno what matters to your organization, so goal suggestions fit your context. It has three free-text fields.

| Field | What to write |
| - | - |
| **High Level Priorities** | Your organization's top priorities, such as leadership, collaboration, or driving results. You can also name focus areas such as generative AI or process automation |
| **Prioritized Skills** | The skills your organization values most, such as problem-solving or technical expertise |
| **Tools and Abilities** | The main tools and systems your organization uses |

Each field has its own **Save** button. It turns on after you change the text.

<Tip>
  Write plain sentences. You don't need a special format.
</Tip>

## Career Paths

The **Career Paths** tab, titled **Take Control of Career Paths Behavior**, appears only when Career Growth is turned on for your organization. If you don't see it, contact your Juno team.

| Setting | What it does |
| - | - |
| **Hide the number of positions on a position card** | Removes the "N positions" count from the family cards on the career map |
| **Competency Scale** | Sets the labels people use when they rate competencies. Each level has a label and a description. Add or remove levels as needed. Select **Hide numbers and show only labels** to show labels without numbers. Select **Save** when you finish |

Without a saved scale, the labels are **Beginner**, **Learner**, **Professional**, and **Master**.

To build the career map itself, see [Career Growth Administration](/admin/career-growth).
