Why Juno integrates with Teams for notifications

Assignment reminders, approval requests, and other Juno notifications reach learners as Teams chat messages instead of relying on email alone.

Permissions we request

The notifications bot is a Microsoft Bot Framework app — it does not request any Microsoft Graph API scopes and has no access to your tenant’s data. A Teams admin approves the Juno app in the Teams admin center (or users install it individually, depending on your app policies).

What we do with the data

  • Juno stores each learner’s conversation reference (an opaque routing identifier) so notifications reach the right chat.
  • Notification content originates in Juno; the bot does not read chats, channels, files, or the tenant directory.

Security and storage

The bot authenticates to Microsoft with app credentials held in Juno’s secret store. Conversation references are stored per learner and contain no message content.

Revoking access

Block or remove the Juno app in the Teams admin center > Manage apps. Delivery stops immediately; learners fall back to their other notification channels.
